Del Gregg

Del is the third-generation of family aviators in Durango, Co. His grandfather and father (James Gregg I and II) begin the La Plata County aviation community, including Gregg Flying Service in 1950, and Animas Airpark in 1976. Del began aircraft mechanics and flying at age 16. When his father retired in 1990, Del took over Animas Air Park, and has led it’s development since. Del is a modern-day “MacGyver” of aviation, leading a team of gifted mechanics, flight instructors, and fellow pilots. His passion for aviation and the La Plata County aviation community is deep-rooted and ever-growing.

John Ford

John Ford, Gregg Flying Service’s Shop Foreman and Service Manager.

Started as a part time apprentice just after graduating from Durango Senior High School in 1987. He initially tutored from Jim Gregg followed by Del Gregg. John received his Airplane and Powerplant license in 1993 and acquired his Inspection Authorization rating when eligible in 1996. With Jim and Del’s knowledge, John has played a large part in Gregg Flying Service’s reputation and growth in aircraft maintenance.

John also received his private pilot’s license in July of 1995 followed by an instrument rating in 1998.

Being raised in Durango, Kai loves spending his free time outdoors. His interest in aviation comes from his time with the Forest Service fighting fires. He became an apprentice at Gregg Flying Service in 2024 and looks forward to earning his A&P with a solid team supporting him.

Kai Meyer

Jake Jensen

Jake has been a resident of the Durango area for over half his life, nurturing a deep passion for aviation since childhood. In 2007, he joined the Gregg Flying Service team as a student pilot, where he was offered a mechanics apprenticeship. His experience with a variety of aircraft types - from small, GA planes, to larger, commercial jets - and his dual qualifications as an A&P and private pilot certification holder, have been invaluable tools in his career.

Iz Tenorio

Victor “Iz” Tenorio hails from Durango, CO. He is a dedicated aviation mechanic who earned his A&P certificate through an apprenticeship at Gregg Flying Service. Driven by a life-long passion for aviation, he is committed to providing safe and outstanding service.

Allen Harris

Born and raised 6th generation in Durango Colorado. Graduated from Ignacio highschool with a interest for avation. Right after graduation he started a full time apprenticeship at Gregg Flying Service. He is working towards his goal of reserving his "A&P" aircraft mechanic license.

Flight Instruction

Jaden Mankins is a lifelong Durango resident with a deep-rooted passion for aviation. He began his flight training in high school, swiftly advancing through his ratings to become a certified flight instructor. All of his training was completed at a local Part 61 school, where he honed not only his flying skills but also a keen understanding of the unique challenges posed by the terrain and weather of Southwestern Colorado. Jaden offers instruction in a variety of aircraft, tailoring each lesson to the individual needs of his students. His ultimate goal is to share his love for aviation with the next generation of pilots, providing fun, safe, and high-quality training across the Southwest.

Mike Gormally

Mike has been passionate about aviation since leaving the Army, where he used his G.I. Bill benefits to earn his pilot certificates. Since then, he has owned two airplanes accumulated over 5,500 hours of flying and helped dozens of people achieve pilot ratings. He provides instruction for private, instrument, commercial, CFI, mountain flying, and technically advanced aircraft (TAA) applicants.

With extensive flight experience across the Southwest and mountain regions — along with cross-country trips spanning the East Coast, West Coast, Mexico, and as far south as Panama — he brings real-world IFR insights to his training. His background includes flying a wide range of aircraft, from normally aspirated pistons to turbocharged pistons and turboprops. This diverse experience allows him to offer practical instruction that prepares students to operate confidently in complex ATC environments.

Mike takes pride in meeting aviation enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds and helping them achieve their aviation goals. Whether you're pursuing your first certificate or transitioning to more advanced aircraft, he focuses on delivering practical skills and real-world knowledge to help you succeed.

Michael D’Anna

Michael is a highly experienced pilot, nearing 5,000 hours in over 40 types of aircrafts, from small single-piston to jets. He has worked for multiple 135 charter companies in Alaska, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado, and currently flies corporate for a few private families in Durango, Colorado.

His passion for flying led to teaching and flight instruction after he had several thousand hours of charter experience. During his time teaching, he has taught students of all skill levels and ages, ranging from 16 to 80 years old.

He works exclusively out of Animas Air Park and La Plata County/ Durango Airport. He teaches students who rent the aircraft as well as those who own their own. His approach to teaching is hands on, with individual guidance and customized learning plans.
